Thin Lizzy Biography

The music group Thin Lizzy rised under popularity horizon in the seventies. It was formed in 1969 in Dublin (Ireland) by Phil Lynott and Brian Downey. It’s starting complement consisted of Phil Lynott (bass, vocals), Brian Downey (drums), Eric Bell (guitars). Phil Lynott and Brian Downey passed through the full creation path of consort. Also in the group was gitarists Scott Gorham (later Supertramp), John Sykes (later Whitesnake, Blue Murder), Brian Robertson (later Motorhead), Gary Moore (ex-Colosseum, later solo), Snowy White. In late creation period keyboardist Darren Wharton also played in Thin Lizzy band.

In 1972 Thin Lizzy released their first top ten hit “Whiskey In The Jar”, which was reworked traditional Irish drinking song. The peak of Thin Lizzy was in 1976, when they released their album Jailbreak with classic track “The Boys Are Back In Town”. Thin Lizzy always worked very hardly releasing very strong albums, but such rithm of live, continious touring and drug abuse wore the band down.

As it was announced, in 1982 the band made their farewell tour for the album Thunder and Lightning, during this period Thin Lizzy was again on the top of popularity. In 1983 the band was practically broken up. In 1986 Phil Lynott died, the group creation was successfuly headed by Gary Moore. Thier albums of 85-87s was not worse that Thin Lizzy albums of the seventies.
